About me...

I am an Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Director of the GIS Program at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

My research interests include Historical and Public Archaeology, Race and Racism, African and Chinese Diasporas, Anthropological GIS, Digital/Virtual Heritage, New Media, and Engaged Pedagogy.

I studied historical archaeology, religion, and film at the University of Arkansas (BA, Anthropology - 2004) before earning an MS in industrial archaeology at Michigan Tech (2005). I entered the graduate program at the University of Florida in 2005, where I received an MA in anthropology (2008) before completing my PhD (2011).

I have participated in archaeology projects in New Zealand, Norway, Alaska, the Deep South, New York, Peru, and the Caribbean. I am particularly interested in the management of archaeological resources and have experience working with African American, Chinese Diaspora, Spanish Colonial, and Euro American sites. I serve as the Current Research Editor for Asia with the Society for Historical Archaeology and as the Southeastern Archaeological Conference webmaster.
